Snow-shoe hiking trips into the Dolomites

The stronghold of Lüsen

Lüsen is recognised as a pioneer in the Alpine regions for easy winter sports and snow-shoe hiking. Numerous well-marked snow-shoe hiking trails offer fantastic views of the Dolomites and lead you via the Lüsen Alm, the Kompatsch meadows and the soft peaks of the Lüsen Alm to Alpine refuge huts, which are open during the winter months.

Snow-shoe hiking can be undertaken by everyone. You simply put on a special type of shoe that can also be used for hiking. Then, all you have to do is walk through the deep snow or prepared paths. There is no special technique needed, however, it is recommended you enjoy this sport as part of a hiking group. Snow-shoe hiking, together with cross-country skiing, is renowned as one of the healthiest and most relaxing types of winter sport. Apart from that, it is a very low-cost sport. All the equipment you’ll need is everyday weatherproof clothing, a pair of snow-shoes and walking sticks, which can also be hired in many hotels and B&Bs in Lüsen. Snow-shoe hiking trips into the Dolomites are an excellent alternative to skiing and other types of winter sports.
