The world's most famous mountaineer Reinhold Messner, who has his home in the mountains of this region, grew up in the Dolomites and describes this legendary rocky paradise as the most breathtaking range of mountains on our beautiful blue planet. In 2009 the Dolomites were given UNESCO World Heritage status.
